Office Assistant Volunteer

Office Assistant volunteers will provide administrative and clerical support to the Central Florida Zoo's Administration Department. Volunteers may be found doing tasks such as filing, data entry, copying, shredding of documents, and other clerical duties as assigned.

General Responsibilities: Blue and gold macaw

  • Any combination of office clerical experience
  • Ability to file alphabetically and numerically
  • Computer program knowledge preferred, such as Word and Excel
  • Ability to handle a multi-line telephone professionally, in a positive manner, and provide accurate information
  • Ability to multi-task with frequest interruptions while remaining calm, organized and accurate
  • Positivive interpersonal skills as well as oral and written communication skills.

Training Sessions:

If acepted as a Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens volunteer, an initial volunteer orientation is required prior to beginning volunteer service. Successful completion of an on-the-job training and intruductory period is also required before full acceptance into the Office Assitant volunteer position.


  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must commit to one shift per week for at least six months
  • Shift times are flexible from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday
  • Participate in volunteer orientation
  • Successfully complete introductory period
  • Pay a $25.00 training fee for manual and uniform shirt
  • Abide by policies in the Volunteer Handbook
  • Great customer service and ability to work well with visitors
